Leslie Curd served in the Navy from 1963-1967. He was honorably discharged as an E-5 (Sgt). He was stationed in San Diego, Japan, the Philippines, and Viet Nam. He served aboard ship in the engine room and boiler room. He was awarded the Navy Service Medal.

After his military service, Leslie lived in California, working in a sugar refinery. He lived in New Orleans for a time, working on the building of a naval ship. He has also worked for Union Carbide and Exxon Mobile.

He now lives with his wife Yolanda in Ft. Worth, TX.



Howard Deist served in the US Army from 1964-1965. He was a private stationed at Ft. Hood, where he was involved in a motor vehicle accident-causing lifelong injury. He was a supply clerk and handled toxic substances, which has further contributed to his disability.

After discharge, Howard has worked in the construction industry, driving a dump truck. He is married to Patsy, and they have one child, 3 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. They live inCleburne, TX.




Michelle Frazier (Chellie) joined the US Army from San Antonio, TX in 1992. Right after Desert Storm, the Army needed people, so Chellie signed up for 2 ½ years active duty. She did basic training at Fort Jackson, SC., MOS 52D (Generator Mechanic) at Fort Belvoir, VA, and was assigned to Fort Lee, VA. Her EST date was the end of 1994. Chellie enlisted in the US Army Reserve and completed her contract in 2000.

Under the GI Bill, she earned a BA in Accounting. In 2003, Chellie enlisted with the US Air Force, completing 15 months. During her Air Force time, she served in 65F Financial Management at Naval Air Station JRB Fort Worth and Keesler AFB. Chellie’s ranks in the US Army and US Air Force were E-5 Sgt. and SSgt. Awards and Commendations received were Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Marksman Badge.

Since discharge, Chellie started employment with the State of Texas and continues her employment today. She is mom to a very kind adult son. Chellie taught weekly Aqua Zumba classes until the gym closed during the pandemic. Then sewing masks began her interest in sewing. She learned to make different items from YouTube and eventually learned to quilt in 2021. She enjoys making 3-yard quilts. Her husband is supportive of her hobby and loves when she learns to make gift items that he can give to his coworkers.



Paul LaHue served in the US Army from 1969-1972. He gained promotion to Spec 4 rank. He underwent basic training at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX, and then went to Arizona, after which he attended Finance Clerk School. This took him to Indianapolis, where he served as a clerk and finance specialist. He was with the 51st Combat Engineers at Ft. Campbell, KY, where he drove a dump truck and was a blaster. The mission there was to build a bridge and then see what was required to destroy it. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, as well as Sharpshooter badge for the M16 and Marksmanship Badge for the M14.

After his military service, Paul has worked as a milkman, salesman, and air filter management for commercial air conditioning units. He lives in Ft. Worth, TX.



Thomas O’Kelley was born in Odessa, Texas.  His father worked in various oil fields which afforded him the opportunity to attend four different High Schools graduating from Grapevine  High School in 1965. He attended Arlington State College for two years when the military  came knocking. So, in 1967 he enlisted in the U S Air Force and was stationed at Dyess Air  Force Base, Abilene, Texas; Goose Bay Labrador, Newfoundland, Canada; and Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He worked as a Ground Power Technician and Base Operations Manager. In 1974, he was  honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sargent. In 1984 he enlisted in the Air Force  Reserve at Carswell Air Force Base, Ft. Worth, TX and worked as a reserve technician on  laser guidance systems. Then transferred to Bergstrom Airforce Base, Austin, Texas and  worked as an Engineering Technical Representative for 1 year and was honorably discharged  as a Technical Sargent. In 1990 he went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration in  Ft. Worth, Texas and worked for 23 years. He initially worked in the DFW area for 10 years as a RADAR Technician and Radar Supervisor. He was then promoted to the National Technical  Inspection Program (NASTEP) where he inspected facilities and mentored other technicians for  6 years. He was again promoted to a Program Manger position with the Aviation Oversight Organization for 2 years. His next promotion was the position of RETIRED in December of 2010.
He met the love of his life, Linda, 16, when he was 18. Two years later he got a day off from  technical school to come home and marry her on December 22, 1967. They have been married  for 56 blissful years. They have two wonderful children - a son named Bradly and daughter named Tonya, two awesome grandchildren – Remington and Joshua.
Since retirement, they have been traveling and enjoying family. They bought a monster off road jeep to enhance their adventures on the trails in Texas, Colorado, and Arkansas.




Debra (Deb) Marie Stuart, Major, Ret. began her military career in the US Air Force straight out of high school. She left the Air Force after 4 years to pursue a nursing degree. Since the military was her true calling, after graduating she joined the US Army Nurse Corps and traveled all over the world as an Operating Room Nurse. She served in Honduras and then Desert Storm as a new Lt. She traveled to Alaska, Germany (4 times), Bosnia, and Iraq. She spent 2 years deployed in a war zone. Major Stuart retired after a total of 22 years of military service with many decorations and awards. She was one of 4 soldiers out of 400 to receive the Combat Action Badge. She also received the “Order of the Combat SPUR” from the 11th US Cavalry in Iraq for skill and discipline. In addition, she received the
following decorations and service medals:

She currently works as an Operating Room Nurse at JPS and enjoys her family of 2 adult children and 7 grandchildren. She has spent 14 years writing letters in support of Veterans. Her comments have been read before the US Congress.

One photo is of Major Stuart and her unit in Iraq. The second was taken of Major Berger and a little girl in Mosul, Iraq. The little girl was then handed to Debra as she stood on the sidelines. The photo was viewed worldwide on the internet.
