COMMUNITY SERVICE - CHARITY QUILTS

Community Services is volunteer work by guild members for the aid and benefit of non-profit organizations.  Current projects include donations of baby quilts, sleeper gowns and caps for infants, and twin bed quilts for the less fortunate.  The guild has determined that all such donations should remain in this area to assist needy families.

Our Community Service projects help to meet the needs of various charitable organizations in our area such as John Peter Smith Hospital, Cooks Children’s Hospital, and Battered Women’s Foundation.

The Guild goal is for each member to make one donation item a year.

BABY QUILTS: The guidelines for making baby quilts are as follows:
· Size:  Newborns – 36” X 36” up to 40” X 44”
· Design:  Juvenile print, panel, patchwork, or appliqué

· Fabric:  100% cotton or cotton/poly blend
· Quilting:  Machine quilted with cotton or cotton/poly thread
· Binding:  Sew on by machine – no hand sewing, please
· Turn in quilts at Guild meetings with your name and the number of hours to make it.

Donated fabric and batting for these quilts along with patterns and instructions for making baby gowns, preemie caps, booties and cuddle babies for JPS are available at Guild meetings from the Community Service Chairman.
